High blood pressure (hypertension) rarely has symptoms.
Around 30% of people in England have high blood pressure but many don't know it. If left untreated, high blood pressure increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
The only way of knowing there is a problem is to have your blood pressure measured.
All adults should have their blood pressure checked at least every five years. If you haven’t had yours measured, or you don’t know what your blood pressure reading is, drop in and get it checked in our "Health Pod" (no appointment needed), or ask your local pharmacist or our Healthcare Assistant Sharon to check it for you.
Hear people share their personal stories. Find out what other people say about issues such as symptoms, diagnosis, controlling high blood pressure and the impact on lifestyle.
This fact sheet will tell you about the simple changes to your diet that can help reduce the health risks that having high blood pressure can cause.
We can stick you on some tablets, but you could avoid that, or at least minimise the need to see us in the future....
What is it? Who gets it? How can it be prevented or treated?
